Why walk a family through the stroller before you leave?
Because a folding mechanism you have never seen is a bad thing to meet for the first time at a bus stop. Our chauffeur went step by step on this one, showed the family how the Baby Jogger City Mini GT opens and folds, and only then left. Two minutes at the kerb. It saves a genuinely miserable ten minutes later, usually at the worst possible moment, with a queue behind you and a child who wants to be carried. The guest also noted the stroller was super clean, which it should be, because every one goes back through us between guests rather than being handed along. The same applies to the rain cover. Florida afternoons in summer are not negotiable on that point. If you are weighing up whether to bring your own, our Disney World stroller rental page explains how the round trip handover works and what condition to expect.
The rain cover matters here. Florida afternoons in summer are not really negotiable, and a stroller handed over without one is a stroller you will be carrying a wet child out of at four o'clock.
What can you actually ask your chauffeur about Orlando?
Most of it, and this family clearly did. They said they had lots of questions about the area and that their driver was very knowledgeable, which is the polite version of an interrogation that probably lasted the whole drive. That is fine. Our chauffeurs run these roads daily and the useful answers are the local ones. Which park is manageable on an arrival afternoon when everyone is jetlagged. Where to eat near your resort that is not on property and not a chain. Whether the drive you are planning on Thursday is twenty minutes or fifty depending on when you leave. That last one catches people out constantly because Orlando distances are counterintuitive and the traffic patterns are not obvious to a visitor. Ask. It is free and it is better than a search result. Our Orlando drive times guide is the written version of the same advice.
Ask about the return trip as well. The best time to leave a resort for an evening flight is not obvious, and getting that one answer right on your arrival day saves a stressful hour at the end of the week.
Why do guests keep mentioning how safely the driver drove?
Because they notice, and because it is the one thing they cannot check in advance. This guest put it last and weighted it most, saying that most of all he drove so safe. Parents with a car seat in the back are paying attention to following distance and lane changes whether they mean to or not. Our chauffeurs are hired against that standard and clear Orlando Police Department approved background checks before they carry anybody, and the vehicles they drive are inspected by ASE certified mechanics on a schedule rather than on a hunch. The founder is an FAA certificated pilot, and a fair amount of the operational thinking here is borrowed from aviation, where the unglamorous checks are the entire job. None of that shows up in a photo of a clean car. It shows up in a review like this one. It is the foundation of every trip The Genie Transportation Services runs, including transportation to Disney World.
There is a scheduling reason behind it too, which is that we keep the day loose. A chauffeur running three bookings back to back drives differently from one who has room in the day, and guests feel that difference even when they cannot name it. They just say he drove well.
