The Genie Comfort GMC Yukon waiting outside Orlando International Airport

What does firmly installed actually mean for a car seat?

Less than an inch of movement at the belt path. It should also be done before you ever see the vehicle.

That is the standard. It is worth spelling out, because the phrase gets thrown around loosely. A seat that slides two inches side to side is not installed, it is merely present, and a surprising number of families have been handed exactly that by somebody in a hurry. We fit Graco convertible seats, tighten them properly, and then invite parents to check the work themselves. Nobody has ever been offended by that offer. Plenty have taken us up on it, given the top tether a firm tug, and visibly relaxed in a way you can see from across a parking area. This family mentioned the seats were in firmly for a safe trip, and they put it in the same breath as polite and courteous, which is telling. To a parent those are not two separate things. Safety and manners are the same product, delivered by the same person, in the same three minutes. Every one of our Disney World transfers runs this way whether anyone asks about it or not.

Why does the chauffeur wait rather than meet you at the curb?

Because the curb at MCO is the worst place in the airport to find a stranger. This guest specifically noted that the driver waited for them to get out of the airport, and that patience is policy rather than personality.

Getting a family through baggage claim is unpredictable in ways nobody can plan around. A bag comes out last. A child needs a bathroom immediately. Somebody realises the stroller went to oversize and is now a five minute walk in the wrong direction. A chauffeur who is parked in the commercial vehicle area and genuinely not in a rush removes every bit of that pressure, because there is no meter running and nobody is being moved along. We are licensed and permitted by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, which is what makes the waiting possible in the first place. A commercial staging area is not a lane you get ejected from after ninety seconds. The full arrival process, including exactly where to walk once you have your bags, is on our MCO airport transfer page.

How many car seats can one vehicle actually take?

It depends on the seat and the row. The honest answer is that three across is harder than most families assume.

Convertible seats are wide, and modern ones are wider than the ones you grew up with. Two fit comfortably across a Genie Comfort Yukon second row with room for an adult beside them, and putting the third row into play opens up more combinations than people expect. Once you are fitting three seats plus adults plus a week of luggage, though, the Genie XL Sprinter stops being an upgrade and starts being the correct tool for the job. We would much rather know the ages and the seat types when you book than improvise in a loading zone with an audience. Tell us you have a rear facing infant, a two year old, and a boostered six year old, and we will put the right vehicle on it the first time. The capacities for each class are listed on our fleet and service levels page, and The Genie Transportation Services supplies the seats either way, at no extra cost, however many of them your family turns out to need.

Just ask. Tell us what you are travelling with and we will tell you honestly whether it fits, including when the answer is that you need the bigger vehicle.

What Our Guests Say

"They were on time, polite, accommodating and courteous. We had a driver for our trip to Disney World and he was great. He waited for us to get out of the airport, had the car seats for our children firmly installed for a safe trip. We highly recommend Genie"
